Patrick Seufert Patrick graduated with a BFA from Tyler School of Art, Temple University in January, 2009. Tyler is now located at Temple's main campus in North Philadelphia. Patrick's graduating class of January 2009 was the last class to complete their degree's at the Elkins Park campus.

Patrick's parents, Robert J. Seufert, nationally recognized oil painter and Alice Olson Seufert are both professional artists and alumni of Tyler. They have had a strong influence on him and have contributed greatly to his art education. Robert and Alice have maintained a business teaching art and producing paintings in their own studio for over 30 years. (www.seufertart.com)

He also feels very fortunate to have had accomplished professional artists as teachers. At the top of this list is Professor Charles Schmidt of Tyler who was his primary mentor when learning the elements and principles of color, the human figure and oil painting.

As far as subject matter for his oils, Patrick focuses on common architectural spaces ranging from urban to rural or from industrial to residential. He often incorporates a graphic style rich in contrasting vibrant colors in order to draw the viewer into the painting. He typically uses his own photographs as a reference when creating his original paintings. Patrick believes this is the best way to capture what he wants in a painting while at the same time using his own intuition to make any necessary alterations including color and composition.

Besides painting oils, Patrick also enjoys producing illustrations. His former teacher at Tyler and nationally recognized illustrator Jon Krause has been instrumental in his development as a illustrator. Patrick has developed a style of paper cut outs while still allowing for detailed renderings in watercolor, ink, and colored pencil. He almost always tries to incorporate humor in his illustrations because he finds it the best way to project his ideas while also showing a different side to his personality.
